"On the second day of the conference, we exchange experiences among APEC economies to implement the development of environmentally-friendly vehicles," he said in Yogyakarta (4/25).

Meanwhile, Indonesia delegate from Cars & Motors Industry United Budi P Soesilo said that Indonesia plans to implement a policy on eco-friendly vehicles within its National Action Plan and Action Plan of the Province. This, said Budi, is a form of Indonesia's commitment to the G-20 Pittsburgh and COP15 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26 percent by 2020.

"With supports from international community in a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent, we will achieve greenhouse gas reductions of 41 percent," said Budi.

Development for environmentally-friendly vehicles, said Budi, comes hand-in-hand with development of other sectors, namely green mining, green production, green transportation, green customer, renewable energy in oil, mining and renewable energy reserve, and green energy.

Budi also suggested technical mechanisms in energy system that may add value through practical usage of environmentally-friendly green energy, which has been developed in international community.

During the same event, US delegation from American Automotive Policy Council (AAPC) Barbara Guth Norton also emphasized the importance of government's commitment to policies and research funding for early development of environmentally-friendly cars. The industry must also be supported by battery industry, technology licensing system and partnerships to environmentally-friendly vehicles that can be used for day-to-day needs.
